Hi everybody, my name is Michael. My wife and I have lived in Sarasota, Florida since 2003. We moved from Northern Virginia, near Washington DC. We lived in the DC Metropolitan area for about 12 years. Here’s a picture of us at the beach near our new home.
I’m prior military; I spent 7 of 8 years active duty as a US Navy Diver; it was a job I truly enjoyed, that was like no other in the world. I’m originally from Ohio but ended up in D.C. after I was wounded during the first Gulf War. In 1994 I left the military and joined the civilian world.
After the military I went to work at the U.S. State Department with the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS). My group was responsible for protecting the Secretary of State (Warren Christopher and later, Madeline Albright) as well as visiting foreign dignitaries and State Department facilities like embassies.
I now work for a small company that contracts with the DoD; we do software engineering and systems integration.
