A Voice of Courage

Ayaan Hirsi AliNothing represents more the principal behind this site than the words spoken most recently by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Her voice, poise and courage are precisely why I created this Beautiful Rants. Her words are elegant, eloquent and devastating.

Ali was recently interviewed by Avi Lewis, on his show ‘On the Map with Avi Lewis’ which is a daily international “news analysis” show in Canada. Avi Lewis is considered “impartial” and “middle-of-the-road” in Canada. You be the judge.

If you’ve never seen or heard of Ayaan Hirsi Ali don’t be surprised; she sort of undermines the whole “Religion of Peace” agenda our media is always pushing. Here is some background info on her.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali was born in Mogadishu, Somalia. When she was an infant, her father was thrown in jail for criticizing the corrupt Somali government. When Ali was 5 years old she was subjected to female genital mutilation (also known as female circumcision).

After six years of imprisonment, her father managed to escape and Ali’s family fled the country and went to Saudi Arabia. However, the Saudi’s expelled them so they moved to Ethiopia. Ethiopia was too dangerous so they went to Kenya. Eventually, Avi fled to the Netherlands and has finally made it to America. She is now 38 years old.

She wrote the script and provided the voice-over for a film directed by Theo van Gogh. The film criticized the treatment of women in Islamic society. Van Gogh was subsequently murdered (beheaded in Amsterdam). A note was attached to Van Gogh’s body, with the knife that was used to behead him. The note was addressed to Ayaan Hirsi Ali. The murder was Mohammed Bouyeri.

She was raised Muslim and educated in Saudi funded Wahabi madrassas. While in the Netherlands she was involved in Dutch politics and she is now an out-spoken critic of Islam and a well-known and controversial author and film maker.

I remember watching her on Glenn Beck’s CNN Headline News show about 6 months ago. Beck asked her the following question…

BECK: You’re most likely not going to die of natural causes. Why do you do this? Why? What is it that you feel people need to hear?

ALI: Well, first and foremost, for those people who say it`s a small problem, I want to tell them it starts small but it grows. When I was living in Africa, the first broadcast (ph), the first veils, the first haircut, were remarkable. Now a country like mine in Somalia is entirely in the hands of people who want to introduce Sharia or Islamic law, which was just unfathomable 20 years ago. So yes, it can start small but it can grow. And that’s what I`m trying to tell people.

Do you think the West is listening to her? The most popular baby name for boys in England is Mohammed. There are parts on France where even the police are afraid to travel. Here in the U.S., Muslim and Islamic groups try to silence anyone who speaks out about the horrors of Sharia Law and the oppressive nature of Islamic extremism.

Ali is a hero and we should all listen to her and learn from her experiences. If we don’t, we may suffer the same fate as her people in Somalia.

    Jeff
